New Afrobeat EP Viva Mama

Attu Medicine, Voice of Maasai vocalist and lyricist

Attu Medicine's new EP, Viva Mama, radiates her vibrant confidence as a singer who is ready to thrive rather than just survive. Family and friends often say her voice is like a healing balm, uplifting their spirits and serving as their medicine.

Showcasing Attu's smooth vocal range as she sings about resilience and ambition

Predominately featuring Swahili lyrics infused with English, Viva Mama (Long Live Mother) showcases Attu's smooth vocal range as she sings about resilience and ambition. Vanene (Mine) a track about romance and relationships infuses Swahili with Hehe, a tribal dialect from Iringa. Napambana (Not Just a Woman) is about the struggle of being a single mother, a fighter and hustler. The final track, Little Stars, shines a light on the children of Africa, as Attu expresses her pride and hope in the future.

Attu Medicine hails from East Africa's dynamic and emerging music scene near Dar Es Salaam, celebrated for her Afropop sound. Her music often tackles social justice, women's issues, and pop culture in Tanzania, reflecting her profound connection to her heritage. She skillfully combines contemporary African melodies with lively rhythms to create an inviting cultural experience.
